Swimmers antioxidant formula outscores all other male fertility supplements using a new scoring system developed by researchers from the University of Miami.
There is a large body of evidence supporting the use of dietary supplements to optimize male fertility but it can be confusing and difficult to interpret. As a result, commercially available male fertility supplement products contain highly variable ingredient lists. Selecting the right male fertility supplement - that is, one that has ingredients that have been proven effective - can be very challenging.
Researchers from the University of Miami (Link) recently developed and published a scoring system to clarify the level of scientific and clinical evidence behind commercially available male fertility supplements. They systematically analyzed the medical literature to classify the effectiveness of specific nutraceutical ingredients in promoting sperm health. Ingredients were assigned scores ranging from -1 (not at all supported by clinical studies) to +5 (supported by highest quality randomized controlled clinical trials). The ingredient profiles of common commercially available supplement products were then used to generate composite scores for each male fertility supplement product.
The researchers reported that only 17% of the 90 different ingredients found in the supplement products studied were supported by clinical evidence. The average composite score for all studied products was 1.66 out of a maximum score of 5.0. The top performing commercially available product scored 3.6.
Swimmers antioxidant formula caplets were not yet on the market and therefore not included in the study. However, application of the University of Miami scoring system to Swimmers antioxidant caplets is straightforward. Swimmers calculated score is 3.9, making it the highest scoring male fertility supplement on the market.
The top-of-the-class ingredient composition score for Swimmers antioxidant formula caplets reflects the time, effort and expertise that went into research and development. Swimmers antioxidant caplets were formulated by top academic reproductive urologists and Swimmers co-founders Dr. Peter Stahl and Dr. Doron Stember based on extensive review of the medical and scientific literature.
